Creating Your LightSMS Account

Learn how to create and properly set up your LightSMS account to start sending SMS messages.

Prerequisites

Before creating a LightSMS account, ensure you have:

  • Paysera Account - Active Paysera account (production environment)
  • Account Funds - Sufficient balance to cover SMS costs
  • Verified Email/Phone - Email or phone number linked to your Paysera account
No Paysera Account?

If you don't have a Paysera account yet, register at paysera.com first.


Registration Process

Follow these steps carefully to avoid automatic charges:

Step 1: Navigate to LightSMS Login

Go to the LightSMS login page:

https://www.lightsms.com/external/client/login/

Click on "Login via Paysera" button.

OAuth Integration

LightSMS uses OAuth to connect with your Paysera account, so no separate registration is needed.


Step 2: Enter Your Paysera Credentials

Use the email or phone number linked to your production Paysera account.

Login options:

  • Email address (e.g., user@example.com)
  • Phone number (e.g., +37061234567)
Use Production Account

Make sure you're using your live production Paysera account, not a sandbox or test account.


Step 3: DO NOT Select Account (First Login)

⚠️ CRITICAL STEP ⚠️

When you see the account selection prompt on your first login:

  1. DO NOT select any account
  2. DO NOT confirm or grant permissions
  3. LOG OFF immediately
Important Warning

If you select an account and confirm on the first login, you will be automatically charged for SMS messages without proper configuration!

Why this step is necessary:

  • First login initializes your LightSMS account
  • Immediate account linking can trigger automatic reservations
  • You need to configure settings before linking accounts

Step 4: Login Again and Grant Permissions

After logging off, login again using the same steps:

  1. Go to https://www.lightsms.com/external/client/login/
  2. Click "Login via Paysera"
  3. Enter your credentials

This time, when you see the authorization prompt:

✅ NOW you can:

  • Select the Paysera account you want to use for SMS payments
  • Review the requested permissions
  • Grant rights to receive the listed information
  • Click "Confirm approval and continue"

Permissions requested:

  • View account balance
  • Reserve funds for SMS sending
  • Access transaction history
  • Receive payment confirmations
Account Selection

Choose the Paysera account that has sufficient funds and will be dedicated to SMS campaigns.


Step 5: Access LightSMS Dashboard

After successful registration and account linking:

  • You'll be redirected to the LightSMS admin panel
  • Your account balance will display at the top
  • Format: [Paysera Balance] / [LightSMS Reserved Balance]
  • Example: 450.15 / 0 EUR

What you'll see:

  • Account balance (Paysera + LightSMS reserved)
  • SMS sending interface
  • Recipient lists
  • Message templates
  • Sender names
  • Statistics and reports

Understanding Account Balance

LightSMS operates using a fund reservation system:

How It Works

Paysera Account: 500.00 EUR
↓ (reserves 1 EUR)
LightSMS: 1.00 EUR reserved
↓ (send SMS costing 0.0144 EUR)
Balance shows: 499.00 / 0.9856 EUR

Explanation:

  • First number (499.00): Your Paysera account balance
  • Second number (0.9856): LightSMS reserved funds remaining

Automatic Reservations

  • Initial reservation: 1 EUR
  • When depleted, system reserves additional funds: 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 50... EUR
  • Reservations accumulate automatically
  • Actual charges applied on 1st of each month at 00:30
Monthly Billing

Reserved funds are deducted from your Paysera account on the first day of each month at 00:30.


Linking to Different Account

If you need to change which Paysera account is linked to LightSMS:

  1. Log in to LightSMS
  2. If balance shows 0 / 0 EUR, click "Link to another account here"
  3. Select the desired Paysera account
  4. Grant permissions
  5. Click "Confirm approval and continue"
Account Switching

Be careful when switching accounts - any reserved funds remain on the original account until monthly settlement.


Next Steps After Registration

Once your account is set up:

1. Register Sender Names

Before sending SMS, register your sender names:

  1. Go to Lists > Senders
  2. Click "Add Sender"
  3. Enter sender name (max 11 characters, Latin letters only)
  4. Submit for approval
  5. Wait for administration review (usually 24-48 hours)

Sender name requirements:

  • Maximum 11 characters
  • Latin letters and numbers only
  • No special characters (except spaces)
  • Must represent your company/brand
Approval Time

Sender names are usually approved within 24-48 hours on business days.


2. Create Recipient Lists

Organize your contacts into lists:

  1. Go to Lists > Recipient Lists
  2. Click "Create New List"
  3. Name your list (e.g., "Customers", "Newsletter Subscribers")
  4. Import contacts or add manually

3. Set Up Templates

Create reusable message templates:

  1. Go to Lists > Templates
  2. Click "Add Template"
  3. Create template name
  4. Write template with variables
  5. Save template

Example template:

Thanks for joining us. Your account is ready.

4. Get API Credentials (Optional)

If you plan to use the API:

  1. Contact Paysera support
  2. Request API access for LightSMS
  3. Receive your credentials:
    • Login (username)
    • API Key (for request signing)
API Access

API credentials are provided upon request. Web interface is available immediately after registration.


Account Settings

Configure Account Preferences

Access account settings to configure:

  • Notifications: Email/SMS alerts for delivery reports
  • Language: Interface language preference
  • Timezone: For scheduled message sending
  • Default Sender: Default sender name for quick sending
  • Auto-reservations: Minimum balance alerts

Troubleshooting

"Account balance shows 0 / 0 EUR"

Problem: Account not properly linked

Solution:

  1. Click "Link to another account here"
  2. Select your Paysera account
  3. Grant permissions
  4. Confirm approval

"Cannot login to LightSMS"

Problem: Login credentials incorrect or account issue

Solutions:

  • Verify you're using correct Paysera account credentials
  • Ensure Paysera account is active and verified
  • Try password reset on Paysera
  • Contact support if issue persists

"Funds reserved but messages not sending"

Problem: Missing sender name approval or insufficient funds

Solutions:

  • Check if sender name is approved (Lists > Senders)
  • Verify account has sufficient balance
  • Check for error messages in sent messages log
